Recent coverage of the Canadian Nationalist Party event in Winnipeg at the Belgian Club has been obtained by The Red Ensign. The CNP recently served CTV, CityNews, among other media outlets, a cease & desist order following their coverage of this private event where an Antifa group attempted to get the event cancelled, but were instead escorted out by police.

The Canadian Nationalist Party has claimed that the media outlets in question (CBC, CTV, and CityNews) have engaged in defamation of character and the interception of private communications. Section 184 of the Criminal Code of Canada states that “Every one who, by means of any electro-magnetic, acoustic, mechanical or other device, willfully intercepts a private communication is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years”.

The CNP has stated that because the group is actively competing in the upcoming 43rd Federal Elections, they “take this breach of justice very seriously”. However, it remains unclear what legal action the political party is intending on pursuing as no formal legal proceeding has as off yet been taken.

In response to the event, the Belgian Club issued an apology and one of its board members was forced to resign.

No charges have yet been laid against the Antifa group members Omar Kinnarath, Rodrigio Thomazi, or Brielle Beardy-Linklater.
